Welcome to Jen's Atlanta Braves Page! I have been promising to do this page for a LONG time, so I thought I would finally get to it! The Braves are often refered to as the team of the 90's. I have been a Braves fan longer than this. I grew up a huge A's fan, because my parents loved them, and often took my sister and I to their games. But my mother also had a soft spot in her heart, for the loveable losers in the NL, the Atlanta Braves, so I started liking them too. She always like Tom Glavine and John Smoltz, and it's great to see both players go on to be among baseball's top players! My obsession with the Braves did not start till I was in the 10th grade. It was the day the Braves received Fred McGriff, and the day of the famed press box fire. I remember flipping though the channels, and stopped on TBS when I saw the fire. I watched the whole game that day, and have never stopped! My first favorite Braves were David Justice and Greg Maddux. Now, my favorite player John Smoltz. Living in California, I don't get to see a lot of Braves games in person, but I always go to SF when the Braves are in town. Since my first game in person, in 1994, I've seen about 20 games or more in person in San Francisco. I also traveled to Arizona to see the Braves take on the Diamondbacks for three games in 2000. I've already got 2 games on tap for the 2002 season!

I mentioned above that the Braves are often considered the "Team of the 90's." Why is this? Beacause the Braves have amassed 8 division Championships, 5 National League Championships, and one World Series Championship in 1995. No other team even comes close to this. The Braves record during the 90's is 925-625. This is a .597 winning percentage. Cut out the year 1990, and this record goes to 856-522, with a winning pct of .622. They have also collected 6 Cy Young awards in the last seven years. Greg Maddux has 3, Tom Glavine has 2, and John Smoltz has one. The Braves pitcher's also have the lowest ERA (3.48) in this period. Atlanta has also been used in the same sentence as "America's Team" frequently. Filled with players who quietly go about their business, of winning and playing quality ball, the Atlanta Braves have won the admiration of critics and fans alike.
